Blackberry cell phones and PDAs were a hot trend in 2003 and 2004.
Blackberry's are known for their ability to server as a multi-function on the go office device. You can check your email, make
phone calls, fax people browse the web and do text messaging. Most people know about the Blackberry because it bridged tha gap
between the PDA and cell phone. In the late 1990s, PDA were being sold that did not have cell phone abilities, or really any
ability to communicate over long distances. The only wireless ability they had was the ability to sync up to other PDAs and
PC that were a few feet in range.
Blackberry phones are like mini-computers now. They have a full keyboard, color display and the ability to get on the internet.
Newer Blackberry's have USB interfaces and microSD slots.
To compensate for it's small keyboard, Blackberry's have the ability to predict the words you are trying to spell. This feature is
called AutoText. This feature allows you to quickly type words without having to type the entire word.
One of the most important features that goes right up a teenager's alley is it's ability to do instant messaging. The user can
use AIM or Yahoo Messanger (or MSN, or ICQ) from anywhere the Blackberry cell phone reception can be reached.
